Save St. Richard's - Chichester Rally

Little more than a week after the success of the protest march in Bognor Regis, more than 5,000 people took to the streets of Chichester to voice their support for St. Richard's Hospital. The peaceful demonstrators gathered in East Pallant and North Gate car parks, and marched to the City's Cathedral Green ...

The first of the marchers arrive at the Cathedral green, led by Chichester MP Andrew Tyrie, flanked by political colleagues and local celebrities

Amongst the many celebrities, Selsey's most famous resident Dr Patrick Moore talks to Spirit FM's Milly Luxford, and tells of his gratitute to the wonderful staff and excellent facilities at St.Richards

Marjory Greig, a Consultant from St.Richard's Hospital

GPs too, made their concerns clear, as the prospect of longer journeys to hospitals in Portsmouth and Brighton would put the lives of West Sussex residents at risk

Actor Christopher Timothy supports the campaign, along with fellow Chichester resident Patricia Routledge - both regular stars of TV and on stage at the Festival Theatre

The rally ends as thunder and lightning add to the dramatic effect of the first such public demonstration that Chichester has ever seen
